Pitfalls of dieting

1. In the beginning, dieting produces good results or success. But after initial success it adds more weight later on.
2. Eat less and exercise more to burn calories but there are some pitfalls/dangers of dieting that keep us away from losing or reducing weight. The major pitfalls of dieting are stated below.

Extreme Reduction of Calories

1. 1700 – 1800 calories a day cannot meet all the nutritional requirements of an individual.
2. you reduce intake of calories it will result in a huge loss of weight which is dangerous.
3. lower your metabolism and as a result of this your body weight will not be reduced in a healthy manner.

Skipping Meals

1. if you have a good metabolic rate, you can maintain or lose weight and rate is slow you gain weight very easily.
2. if you skip meals, it will lower your metabolism to conserve energy.
3. and if you skip one meal, you take more calories during the next meal.

Intake of Calories through Beverages

1. coffee with cream and sugar, sweetened juices and sodas really contribute to weight that’s why skip Beverages.

Underestimating the Calories

1. it is essential to be more aware of the amount of calories you take in your diet it can`t be more than required daily basis of an individuals.

Intake of Labelled Foods

1. products that carry the label ‘lean’, ‘sugar free’, ‘low calories’ or ‘no fat or fat-free’ these food is not always the best for losing weight and not meet all the nutrient requirements of your body.
2. products like sugar free they have sugar but in a little less quantity as compared to the normal products, due to which you take Sugar free products more as compared to normal products. So due to lack of knowledge you take more calories instead of in normal quantity.

Not Exercising or lack of exercising

1. for weight loss Exercise and Diet both are required, if you are doing only one thing that will be not sufficient.
2. exercise has a positive effect on metabolism and also helps to burn some extra calories.
3. lower your metabolism and as a result of this your body weight will not be reduced in a healthy manner.

Food Intolerance

1. food intolerance means the individual elements of certain foods that cannot be properly processed and absorbed by our digestive system.
2. Some persons can tolerate a reasonable amount of the food but if they eat too much or too often they get symptoms of food intolerance because their body cannot tolerate unlimited amounts. 

Causes of Food Intolerance

1. Food intolerance is caused by part or complete absence of activity of the enzymes responsible for breaking down or absorbing the food elements.
2. Sometimes food intolerance can be diet-related or can be due to illness.

Symptoms

1. Food intolerance can cause nausea, stomach pain, diarrhoea, vomiting, flatulence, gas, cramps, heartburn, headaches, irritability, nervousness, etc.
 

Management of Food Intolerance

1. Individuals can try minor changes of diet to exclude food causing adverse reactions. 
2. If you are unable to know the food which causes problem you should seek expert medical help.
3. Guidance can also be provided by your general practitioner to assist in diagnosis and management. 
4. For managing food intolerance, fructose intolerance therapy, lactose intolerance therapy and histamine intolerance therapy can be applied.
